Before you press Pause, know what stops.

Qustodio’s pause and time limit behavior differs by device. Test it before relying on it during a busy family day.

A pause button sounds simple, but phones and computers do not all respond in the same way. Before using it as part of your family routine, check what remains available on each device. That is especially useful when a child depends on the device for a school resource, a planned call or an accessibility tool.

Check the actual device behavior

Qustodio documents different results for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS when internet access is paused or a time limit is reached. Review the current guidance for your child’s platform. Do a supervised test so you know whether the setting affects browsing, connected apps or a broader set of activity.

Explain the boundary before it arrives

Tell your child when a pause is expected and how to ask for an exception. A predictable rule is easier to follow than an unexplained interruption in the middle of a task. If a lesson or family call needs to continue, deal with that specific need rather than changing the entire schedule without a plan.

Treat a mismatch as a setup issue

If a rule does not behave as expected, check the device, app version and configuration. Do not assume your child deliberately caused the difference. Technology settings can have limitations and interactions that are not obvious from a label in the parent app. Getting the setup right is part of making the rule fair.

A practical next step

  • Test pause on every protected device.

  • Check access to the tools your child must retain.

  • Explain the exception process before the first scheduled pause.
