Start with the right checks.

A speaker problem and a microphone problem need different checks. If you can hear others, focus on the microphone.

What to do next.

  1. Check Zoom’s mute control and any physical mute switch on the headset.

  2. Open Zoom’s audio settings and choose your intended microphone.

  3. Run the microphone test and listen to the recorded playback.

  4. If no input is detected, check that the operating system allows Zoom to use the microphone. On a work device, ask support about managed restrictions.

Check the result.

The test recording contains your voice and another participant can hear you.

Stop and get help if…

The test stays silent or permissions cannot be changed. Record the selected device and any error instead of repeatedly reconnecting to the meeting.
