Wireless router on a table

Start with the right checks.

A missing network may be a device setting, range issue or network problem. Compare with a device already using that connection.

What to do next.

  1. In Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Network & internet. Check that Wi Fi is on and Airplane mode is off. If the Wi Fi option is missing, note that before changing anything else.

  2. Move closer to the access point without unplugging shared equipment.

  3. Check whether another device sees the intended network and whether this PC sees other networks.

  4. Record the PC model and recent changes, then follow Microsoft’s matching network guidance.

Check the result.

Confirm that the exact intended network appears and that an ordinary website loads after connecting.

Stop and get help if…

The network is hidden, uses organization issued credentials or is absent on several devices. Ask the network owner before changing the router configuration.
