Desktop printer ready for everyday printing

Start with the right checks.

An all in one device can print successfully while its scanning function still needs configuration. Check the scanner as a separate device.

What to do next.

  1. Confirm that the scanner is powered on and note whether it uses USB or the network.

  2. For a network scanner, check that it is on the intended network.

  3. Open Settings, Bluetooth & devices, Printers & scanners and inspect the installed device.

  4. Use Windows Scan from the Microsoft Store or the manufacturer’s supported application to scan a harmless sample.

Check the result.

Open the saved scan and verify its destination, page count and readability. A preview alone does not prove the file was saved.

Stop and get help if…

The destination is a shared folder, email delivery fails or the device requires an account you do not manage. Those workflows need their own permissions review.
