Start with the right checks.
A new computer is ready to become your workspace, but the first account and file choices matter. A little preparation prevents finding out tomorrow that your documents, printer or sign in method stayed on the old PC.
What to do next.
Connect the supplied power adapter and use a trusted internet connection. Have your account details and a second device available for verification prompts.
Follow the setup screens. For personal use, use the Microsoft account you intend to keep. For a work device, follow the organization’s enrollment instructions rather than improvising a personal setup.
Read the privacy, backup and subscription choices. Check what is already licensed before accepting an optional purchase or trial.
After reaching the desktop, open Settings, then Windows Update. Install offered updates and follow normal restart prompts. Allow time for this before your first important meeting.
Install needed applications from their official provider or your organization’s software portal. Restore documents from a verified copy, keeping the original available.
Check the result.
Open a document, send a test message to yourself, check sound and camera, and print a harmless test page if you use a printer. Confirm that the files you need are actually available, not only shortcuts to a disconnected drive.
Stop and get help if…
The setup shows an unfamiliar organization, you cannot verify the intended account, or your files appear missing. Keep the old PC unchanged while someone checks the cause. A setup problem should not become an unnecessary account replacement.
