Desktop printer ready for everyday printing

Start with the right checks.

A stuck job can hold up later jobs even when the printer itself is ready. Establish which queue receives your document and whether the printer reports its own error.

What to do next.

  1. Check the printer display for paper, jam or supply messages.

  2. Open Windows Settings, Bluetooth & devices, Printers & scanners and choose the intended printer.

  3. Inspect the queue and cancel your own failed job if appropriate. Keep the original document saved.

  4. Try a small harmless document. If it still fails, record whether another device can print.

Check the result.

Confirm that the new job disappears from the correct queue and produces a page at the intended printer.

Stop and get help if…

The queue belongs to a shared print server, other people’s jobs need removal or the problem returns. Do not reset the entire printer to clear one person’s document.
