Start with the right checks.

The site editor, domain registration and hosting account may belong to different accounts. Access to one does not give control over all three.

What to do next.

  1. List the website address, builder, domain registrar and the person currently managing each account.

  2. Ask the current owner to invite the business’s intended account using the platform’s supported access controls.

  3. Confirm whether editing access is sufficient or an ownership transfer is required. Check subscription and billing consequences before accepting a transfer.

  4. Test the granted access and document who can publish, manage billing and maintain the domain. Keep recovery information in the business’s approved system.

Check the result.

The intended business account can perform its authorized tasks and the website stays available. Record remaining dependencies on the previous provider.

Stop and get help if…

Ownership is disputed, the current owner is unavailable or a transfer would cancel a needed plan. Get the account and commercial arrangements clarified first.
