Start with the right checks.

The useful test is whether the recovery copy contains usable work. This matters before a reset, replacement or storage repair.

What to do next.

  1. List the files and application data needed for an ordinary working day.

  2. Identify the actual backup and its most recent relevant recovery point.

  3. Restore a harmless sample to a different location when the system supports it.

  4. Open the sample with the intended application and record any missing coverage.

Check the result.

Confirm that the planned reset’s important information is covered and that the restore process is understood. Preserve the original until that is established.

Stop and get help if…

There is no checked recovery copy, the backup excludes important data or a restore would overwrite current work. Scope recovery before approving the reset.
